BERNARDITA MORELLO

ROMA

September 15th - October 29th, 2022

Opening: September 15th, from 6 PM until 8 PM

ROMA is love (amor), read from behind. For is love the protagonist, in its different forms, of the new project by Bernardita Morello (Argentina, 1984). This exhibition focuses on maternal-filial relationships, following the visits to the maternal house, in the remote city of Esquel, in Argentine Patagonia. In the first trips, she does it like daughter; in the last years also as a mother of herself.

The place where is located Morellos' mather home is in her own words “an arid, dry and precarious place, where the mountains that surround it protect and oppress likewise”. In this wasteland, in the bosom of a family made up only by women, it is where she grew up until she came to Europe. There she returns each year, to continue this personal homage to her mother, in an exploration that never ends.

Graduated at the Ecole Nationale de la Photographie de Arles (France) and Blank Paper Escuela, Morello has lived and worked in Madrid since 2010, alternating her commercial work with long-term personal projects. In 2016, she publishes her first photo book, eden, after winning the Fiebre Dummy Award first edition, and then published by Dalpine, who where invited  to be showcase a selection of their catalogue together with this exhibition as the Guest Publishing House.

Founded in 2010 in Madrid, Dalpine is a publishing house that encourages collaboration between photographers, artists, designers and editors to produce limited edition books.
